Concrete Pool Decks in Cerritos

A pool deck takes bare feet, splashing water, pool chemicals and full summer sun. We start by looking closely at your yard and existing deck, tell you plainly what we find, then pour a new deck that drains right and stays comfortable to walk on.

A deck built around how pools actually get used

A good pool deck does three quiet jobs. It sheds water away from the pool and your home, it gives wet feet something to grip, and it stays cool enough to cross without hopping. When any of those fails, you notice fast: puddles that turn green, slick spots near the steps, or a surface too hot to touch by noon.

Before we recommend anything, we walk the deck with you. We check how water moves across it, how the coping meets the concrete, and whether the soil underneath has shifted. You get our findings in plain words, including when your current deck still has life left in it.

We have been pouring concrete around homes for 15+ years, and pool decks are the work where careful planning shows most. A deck around a pool built decades ago often sits on soil that has settled unevenly, so we plan the base before we plan the finish.

What your new pool deck includes

Tear-out and haul-away
We break out the old deck, protect the coping and pool finish while we work, and haul the debris off your property.
Base and slope
We compact a proper base and set the forms so the deck falls away from the pool and toward drains or open ground. A small, steady slope keeps water from pooling near the edge or running toward your foundation.
Joint at the coping
Concrete and the pool shell move differently in heat. We leave a flexible, sealed joint where the deck meets the coping so the two can shift without cracking each other.
Slip-resistant finish
Choose from a light broom finish, a salt finish with small pitted texture, a cool-deck style topcoat or stamped concrete. Each gives bare feet grip when wet, and we show you samples before you decide.
Control joints and drains
We cut control joints so any cracking happens in straight lines where it belongs, and set deck drains where the layout calls for them.
Cleanup and care notes
We clean the site, rinse the pool area and tell you how long to wait before furniture, foot traffic and refilling or running the pool as usual.

Signs it may be time for a new pool deck

  • Water sits after you swim

Puddles that linger mean the slope has been lost, often because the base settled. Standing water leaves stains and makes the surface slick.

  • Gaps or lifting at the coping

If the deck has pulled away from the coping or lifted above it, water can get behind the pool wall. That is worth a close look before it gets worse.

  • Trip edges and heaved slabs

Sections that have risen or dropped create edges that catch toes, a real risk for kids running around the pool.

  • A surface that burns feet

Dark or bare concrete can get too hot in summer sun. A lighter, cooler finish makes the deck usable again in the afternoon.

  • Wide cracks and flaking

Spreading cracks and a surface that crumbles or peels, often from years of chlorine or salt water, usually mean the slab has reached the end of its useful life.

How your pool deck project runs

  1. 1

    Inspection and findings

We look at the deck, coping, drainage and how the ground has moved. Then we tell you what we found and what we would recommend, with no pressure to go bigger than you need.

  2. 2

    Written plan and finish choice

You get a clear written scope covering demolition, slope, joints, drains and finish. We let you know whether the project needs a city permit and take care of it when it does.

  3. 3

    Demolition and base prep

We remove the old deck, cover the pool edge and grade and compact the base. Forms go in with the slope checked before any concrete arrives.

  4. 4

    Pour and finish

We place the concrete, apply your finish and cut control joints at the right time. The coping joint gets sealed once the concrete has cured enough.

  5. 5

    Cure and walk-through

We walk the finished deck with you, go over curing time and care, and explain the 1-year warranty that covers our work.

What shapes the cost of a pool deck

Every pool deck is priced from what we see at the inspection, so the estimate reflects your yard rather than a guess. You will know what is included before work begins. These are the things that move the number most.

Size and layout
Total square footage matters, and so do curves, steps and tight corners around the pool shape, which take more forming time.
Removal and access
Breaking out a thick old deck takes longer than a thin one. Narrow side yards that keep equipment out mean more work by hand.
Finish and color
A broom finish is the simplest. Salt finishes, cool-deck topcoats, integral color and stamped patterns each add materials and labor.
Base and drainage work
Soil that has settled or holds water may need extra grading, base material or new deck drains to get the slope right.

Pool deck questions we hear most

Something not covered here? (562) 442-1399

Do I have to drain my pool for a new deck?

Usually not. We protect the coping and pool edge during demolition and pouring, and we keep debris out of the water as we go. If we notice anything about your coping during the inspection, we will point it out and explain what it means for the new deck.

Which finish is least slippery?

Salt and broom finishes give strong grip for wet feet, and cool-deck style topcoats add texture as well. Stamped concrete can work around pools too, with a textured pattern and a sealer suited to wet areas. We bring samples so you can feel the surface before choosing.

How do you keep the deck from getting too hot?

Lighter colors and cool-deck style topcoats reflect more sun and stay noticeably cooler under bare feet. We can suggest options that suit how your yard gets sun through the day.

How long before we can swim and walk on it?

Light foot traffic is usually fine after a day or two, depending on weather and finish. We will give you specific timing for furniture and heavier use at the walk-through.

Who stands behind the work once it is done?

We do. Our company holds a license from the California State License Board (CSLB), and our pool deck work comes with a 1-year warranty. We explain what that covers before you sign anything.

Can you pour the rest of the backyard at the same time?

Yes. Many homeowners pair a pool deck with a new patio, walkways and sidewalks, or a full concrete backyard. Pouring together keeps the color, finish and slope consistent across the yard.
